Obituary

William Weatherford "Charlie" Killam, 78, died Monday, March 21, 2016. Born July 13, 1937, Charlie was the youngest son of Maggie and Fred Killam.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Fred Killam; brothers, Price and Millard Killam; sisters, Evelyn Driver, Doris Evers, Billie Emmons and Margie Hall.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Tallulah Cooper Killam; brother, Fred (Gwen) Killam; sister, Carolina (Chuck) Freeman; daughter, Amy (Paul) Christenberry of Camden, S C ; son, Michael (Cheryl) Killam of Pensacola and grandchildren, Daniel (Meredith) Christenberry of Columbia, S C and Lucy Christenberry of Camden, S C, Margaret Ann Killam (Lance) Walker, Meredith Killam and Mallory Killam all of Birmingham, A L and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Christenberry of Columbia, S C .

A native of Pensacola, Charlie graduated from Pensacola High School, class of 1955, and attended the University of Florida. He was a faithful member of Brownsville Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon; First Baptist Church of Pensacola and most recently, First Baptist Church of Camden, S C .

Charlie began his career at Monsanto in Research and Development, then Bob Salter Chevrolet and ended his career in sales and management at Sandy Sansing Chevrolet . Charlie enjoyed hunting, golfing and all spectator sports. He was most proud while watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, and school and church activities. His greatest attributes were having a strong work ethic and being a man of his word. He will be missed by so many.

A M emorial service will be held in Pensacola, Wednesday, March 23 , 2016 at 11 :00 a.m. in Pleitz Chapel on the campus of First Baptist Church. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service. Dr. Barry Howard of First Baptist Church will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 4900 Bayou Blvd., Suite 212, Pensacola, FL 32503.

The family would like to thank all of their dear friends in Camden, S C and Pensacola for their love and kindness.
