Wyatte Anthony "Bub" Golson, Jr., 92, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Born June 2, 1923, he was a lifelong resident of Pensacola.
Bub was a devout Catholic and a charter member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Rita, and was the best father and grandfather anyone could ever ask for. He was a very special man and loved by everyone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corp working as an aircraft engine mechanic for B-29 bombers. He retired from the City of Pensacola and then went on to retire from ECUA.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Rita A. Lockwood Golson; parents, Wyatte and Etta Golson; brother, Ben Golson and sisters, Mary Mitchell and Audrey (Boots) Golson.
He is survived by his 6 children; Rita Ilene (Tommy) McClammy, Frank (Libby) Golson, Judy (David Wayne) Cork, Wyatte (Mary) Golson, III, Etta (Andy) Scanlon and Terry (Michelle) Golson; along with his 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Eva Mitchell and Peggy (Charles) Peetrse; his brother, Jay Golson and sister-in-law Helen Golson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Harper Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd. Pensacola, FL with a Rosary recited at 2:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, February 8, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3121 Hyde Park Rd., Pensacola, FL with Fr. Doug Halsema, celebrant. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Tommy, Kevin and Darrell McClammy, Wyatte Golson, IV, Jeff Heitland, Shane Scanlon, Justin O'Quinn and Jason Smith.
