Obituary

Donna Faye Coble, 91, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2022.

Donna was born November 16, 1930, in Longmont, CO to Arthur F. Hennigh and Hazel (Bashor) Hennigh. Donna graduated from Longmont High School in 1948 and soon thereafter married Gerald "Jerry" Mason Coble in 1949 beginning a 53-year marriage filled with adventure and love until Jerry's passing in October of 2002.

Early in their marriage, Donna and Jerry most notably lived with their first two children, Cheryl & Reed, in Peshawar, Pakistan where Jerry took a position establishing the library at the University of Peshawar. After returning stateside, they resided in Norman, OK where they welcomed their next child, Rana. They next moved to Maryland where they welcomed their youngest son, David. In the early 1970's they settled in Gulf Breeze, FL, where they enjoyed the remainder of their days.

Donna was a member of Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church since coming to the area in 1972. She was ordained to the church Session for three terms and served the Lord in multiple capacities at the church through her time as well as her art which was featured on the cover of the weekly bulletin for many years. A watercolor artist, Donna was an active member of Quayside Art Gallery for over 30 years, a member of Pensacola Art Study Club and a Signature Member of the Florida Watercolor Society. While under the care of Covenant Hospice in November 2020, as part of their Make a Wish program, one of Donna's paintings was chosen by her family to be permanently installed at the Gulf Breeze Recreation Center for all to enjoy.

Donna's wry sense of humor and gentle demeanor made her a favorite to all who met her. In later years she enjoyed the opportunity to travel overseas with many of her children and grandchildren. Her family was very dear to her, and she will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

After the loss of Jerry, Donna dedicated her time to her art projects, church, and family. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Jordan and Darlene's husband, Joseph of Erie, CO; as well as her eldest son, Reed Charles Coble of Jessup, MD passed away in July of this year.

She is survived by her brother, Gary Hennigh and his wife, Donna (Rider) Hennigh of Columbia, MO; two daughters, Cheryl (Bill) Sikes and Rana (Ivan) Saxton of Gulf Breeze, FL; a son, David Coble of Pensacola, FL; three granddaughters, Deborah (Tyler) Cowen, Megan (Sean) Mahoney and Lauryn (Patrick) Cook; as well as five grandsons, Cody Cowen, Daniel, Aidan, John & Benjamin Mahoney. The family is anticipating the eminent birth of grandson, Mason Cook.

Memorial Service will be held 3:00pm Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Bill Lamont officiating. She will be laid to rest privately at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Donna would be most welcomed by Gulf Breeze Public Library, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), or The Pensacola Humane Society.
